AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.1 & AquaLogic User Interaction 6.5

A couple of days ago I posted a pre-release snapshot of AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.1 working with WebLogic Portal 10.2. In the past 48 hours a got a hand full of emails asking me about the AquaLogic User Interaction (ALUI) integration - also known as AquaLogic BPM Suite Collaboration Edition.

Well, ALBPM CE is also coming along pretty well! I thought I would go ahead and share with you another pre-release snapshot of ALBPM 6.1 running inside the ALUI Portal 6.5. This is work in progress and the final release may look a little different, however you can already see the Process Community and the latest WorkSpace components working well together in the Portal:

One of the main changes in this release is the adoption of the ALUI Directory Services instead of the Hydrogen Sync services. This way we can ensure a more robust and high-performance identity management solution between the two products. ALBPM CE leverages all the collaboration capabilities in ALUI, together with its new look and feel, and the new ALBPM WorkSpace 6.1 (which has been updated and improved).

If you would like to take a sneak preview look at AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.1 you may consider attending  BEA (now Oracle) Participate 2008 in Chicago, May 12-15th. It is coming soon, so you better get your pass right now. Besides all the great sessions, we will host a series of hands-on labs where you will be able to play with ALBPM 6.1 and talk directly to our team. We are looking forward to the opportunity to get your feedback and exchange information.

For those of you looking for more frequently updates (when a blog is not enough), you may consider following my updates at Twitter. There you can get daily updates on product related features, sneak preview data, and more information about our next release. Below is my feed just in case:

This is it for now, more on AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.1 coming soon!

AquaLogic BPM 6.1 & WebLogic Portal 10.2

I got a lot of people asking me about AquaLogic BPM Suite (ALBPM) support for WebLogic Portal (WLP), especially after the recent WLP 10.2 release.

So the short answer is "yes", there is and will be support. The long answer is that we are changing the approach of the integration in 6.1 and making it simpler to get it done. We are planning to remove several of the manual steps and have a smooth process in place. In a nutshell, we are planning to provide a Library Module where WLP developers can quickly surface the ALBPM WorkSpace into the portal. The team in Buenos Aires (ALBPM) is working hard to make this possible with support from the team in Boulder (WLP). There is still some work involved, but it is much simpler. The configuration matrix is as follows:

  • ALBPM 6.0 works with WLP 10.0
  • ALBPM 6.1 works with WLP 10.2

Below is a quick snapshot of ALBPM 6.1 already running inside WLP 10.2. This was taken today from a running WLP instance in the labs. We received a lot of customer feedback during ALBPM 6.0 timeframe and we really hope this will make several folks happy out there.

For more details about the current integration you may want to review a blog entry from my colleague Peter Laird. More info on Library Module, there is a good blog entry from Rob Woollen. If you would like to take an early look on all the latest ALBPM software and meet some of team members in person, you may consider attending Participate 2008 - there will be several sessions and demos on 6.1.   :-)

More about ALBPM 6.1 coming soon!

AquaLogic BPM 6.1 - BPMN

In AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.1 we are improving our support for BPMN. Below is a pre-release snapshot showing a process represented with the updated BPMN constructs. You should notice the improved editor showing the BPMN functional groups, on the right side, such as: Activities, Gateways, Events, Flow, Globals, and Artifacts. The Business Analyst profile has been revisited as well to maximize modeling space and easy-of-use.

To improve BPMN support we added a new Timer activity and updated some icons to better match the spec. Below are some of the new and updated icons - the final icons will be included in the 6.1 package, this is still work in progress:

The meaning of the icons above, from left to right, top to bottom, with their respective BPMN (ALBPM) equivalents are: XOR (Conditional), Loop, Message Event (Notification Wait One Argument), Multiple Event (Notification Wait Multiple Argument), OR (Split Or), Send Message Event (Process Notification), AND (Split), Multiple Instance (Split N), and Timer Event (Timer Activity).

This is it for now, more updates about ALBPM 6.1 coming soon here!
