BPM Suite components + Studio feedback

As you probably know Oracle has several software products and suites. Coming from BEA, I am still learning everything there is available around here. On my product area Oracle BPM Suite, there are five main components: Oracle BPM, BPEL PM, BAM, Rules, and Web Center (restricted license for Process Portals). This is a very rich set of software tools with a wealth of capabilities able to cover the most demanding and intense BPM projects.

Here is short cut to each component of the BPM Suite - always check OBPM Interoperability Matrix before you start a project:

  1. Oracle BPM - Download
  2. Oracle BPEL PM - Download
  3. Oracle BAM - Download
  4. Oracle Rules (Oracle Business Rules is included in the Application Server and also part of SOA Suite) - Download : Download
  5. Oracle WebCenter - Download

Not too long ago, we completed the launch of OBPM 10gR3, and now the team is heads down working on the next major release. In previous releases I had a chance to focus on SOA related items, easy of use features, usability, and integration with other products. This time around I will be focusing  most of my time on the Studio IDE. More precisely on the move from the Eclipse environment to the Oracle JDeveloper framework. This will be a lot of work and will keep us pretty busy.

If you have any thoughts, requests, specific comments, or feedback please send them my way. (alex dot toussaint at oracle dot com)

Ten reasons why you should look at Oracle BPM Suite 10gR3

There are several new features coming up in Oracle BPM 10gR3 (OBPM). Below is a summary of highlights for Business Analysts, Developers, and IT Administrators:

  1. Improved BPMN support - OBPM delivers improved BPMN support, providing more compliant constructs and modeling style.
  2. Microsoft Office 2007 Ribbon Integration - A Microsoft Office Ribbon plug-in is provided that enables processes to be kicked off from Microsoft Word and Excel. The ribbon is available via the OBPM WorkSpace and can be downloaded and quickly installed by users on their local machine. Once installed users can create new process instances directly from within Word or Excel.
  3. WorkSpace Usability Enhancements – The OBPM WorkSpace interface has been redesigned to improve usability for all users. This includes streamlining group actions, reducing the use of icons, providing more intuitive task-flows, and simplifying controls.
  4. Upgrade to Eclipse 3.3.2 - OBPM Studio now runs under the Eclipse 3.3.2 framework, which brings several stability improvements.
  5. Business Process Activity Stream – The OBPM Engine provides new Web 2.0 capabilities by surfacing a Process Activity Feed that can be viewed in WebCenter Interaction, similar in concept to what users see in Facebook. Users can see what activities are taking place and the aggregation of those activities is visible via the Business Process Activity Stream.
  6. Dashboard display panel - A new panel type is included that can render a dashboard. This new panel looks for all global activities implemented as dashboards available to the participant, who can pick the desired one at run time. The dashboard is then rendered in the panel, enabling drill downs and other dashboard like capabilities.
  7. Federated OBPM End-User Applications - Expanded capabilities for client applications such as the WorkSpace, PAPI-WS, Process Administrator to connect to multiple BPM Engines. This provides a federated capability such that a business user can login once to the WorkSpace and see processes instances in multiple departments/deployments.
  8. Improved integration with WebLogic Portal 10.3 (WLP) using a library module for the WorkSpace - Improved integration with WebLogic Portal by taking advantage of WebLogic Server Library Module technologies. This includes simplified installation and configuration. From the ALUI side, we are also updating the integration to support ALUI 6.5.
  9. Silent Run Configuration Wizard - The Configuration Wizard can now be run in silent mode, based on a template file. This is especially important for administrators in script only configuration environments.
  10. Oracle Service Bus (AquaLogic Service Bus 3.x) Support – Updated the existing integration with AquaLogic Service Bus 2.6, to support the latest now Oracle Service Bus.

If you are going to be around next week for Oracle OpenWorld 2008, be sure to attend our BPM sessions and come by the booth to see the latest demos. Looking forward to seeing you there!

AquaLogic BPM Suite, now part of Oracle BPM Suite

In the past few months we have been working hard to put the final touches on our next release. But first, I need to make sure the naming transition is clear. Here is a short summary. Last year, around August time frame we released BEA AquaLogic BPM Suite version 6.0. At that point the main line engineering team started to work on the next version code name GATURRO. The initial thinking with the numbering was 6.1, however by January it was clear that the amount of features made the release more of a version 6.5 (marketing was happy about it). During BEA Participate we presented you with early demos of ALBPM 6.5. Now under Oracle, we are updating the name to Oracle BPM 10gR3. (ALBPM 6.5 -> Oracle BPM 10gR3)

Below is a snapshot of the startup screen of the new Oracle BPM Studio 10gR3 (AquaLogic BPM Studio) already under the new branding.

OracleBPMStudio10gR3

More about the product and the new features in future postings. ;-)

Before I forget... Next month mark your calendars for the Gartner Business Process Management Summit in DC, 10-12 September 2008. The Oracle BPM team will be there with the very latest software, cool demos, and very interesting presentations. We hope to see you there!

Cheers,

The blog move...

In the past month or so we have been going through the Oracle transition over here. As you can imagine there have been several changes in just about everything, like email, calendar, phones, and many new things to learn. In parallel, we are trying to stay focus and get our releases shipped on-time and with a bunch of cool features.

My new emails address is: alex period toussaint at oracle period com (trying to avoid spam) :-)

As many of my fellow BEA colleagues I have decided to get a new blog address. I am not sure how the Oracle world will be handling blogs and I did not have the time to go find out all the details. The focus on the blog will continue to be pretty much the same - that is what my work is focusing on at that time, which is around our BPM product - below is the address:

http://alexworking.blogspot.com/

Blog move is no fun... I have tried my best to move things over the new place. I just noticed some of the images did not quite made it very well. Will have to circle back and make sure I get them all moved ok. Perhaps this is my weekend project. :-)

For a more extreme blogging experiences I started a Twitter account as well. Slowing getting into the micro-blogging/status world. Trying not to be addicted to it, but it is fun and several cool people are getting into it as well - below is my Twitter address if you want to follow me:

http://twitter.com/alextoussaint

Just for fun in case Twitter is down or having problems, which sees to happen often - I hope it will get better... - I have created a fail-over Twitter micro-blog post space. Coming from a middleware focused company with product such as Tuxedo and WebLogic, I have been drinking the scalability and performance kool-aid for some time. This time around I am hoping the Ning infrastructure can be more robust as needed. See my Twitter on Ning below:

http://mytwitter.ning.com/

In any case, hope to be blogging and micro-blogging more in the months to come.

On a product note AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.1 release, code name Gaturro, is going very well. Our Early Access Program customers are using the product and providing great feedback. Things are on track and looking very good for the release. More details and updates on the product after the July 1st Webcast with Thomas:

http://www.oracle.com/features/hp/middleware-strategy.html

Finally, for folks looking for the latest Maintenance Pack for AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.0.4 you can get it form the Oracle E-Delivery web site - I have been getting a lot of questions about this - please go here:

http://edelivery.oracle.com/

This is about it! Have a great weekend and talk to you soon!

AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.1 and AquaLogic Service Bus 3.0

Since the release of AquaLogic Service Bus 3.0 (ALSB) we have been getting questions about AquaLogic BPM Suite (ALBPM) support for it. As you may have seen in the past 18 months we went from having a manual process to integrate process services and the bus, to a fully automated point-and-click approach to consume and publish services between the two products. We have also implemented a custom transport to allow for better performance when ALBPM and ALSB are co-deployed in the same JVM. The transport works with RMI over T3 and bypass the typical web services call cycle, improving performance. Running inside WebLogic Server you get one of the most robust and scalable infrastructure available to power any SOA initiative.

For AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.1, we have updated the integration to be fully compliant with ALSB 3.0. We have also re-implemented the custom transport to take advantage of the latest improvements in the bus architecture. One brand new feature was extending pub-sub support to include BPEL processes, which was only available for XPDL previously.

Below is quick snapshot of ALBPM 6.1 processes being published into the ALSB server - this can be done from Studio or from our Enterprise server in case you were wondering how one can account for changes in the environment from development, qa, and production.

alsb3_01_trim

Next is a snapshot showing a BPEL process being injected inside ALSB from ALBPM. Everything is fully automated and it is just point-and-click. We try to make as simple as possible for ALBPM to support orchestration use-cases where processes exposed as services can leverage the bus infrastructure, and the advanced flows can be easily composed in Studio.

bpm_01

If you are coming to BEA Participate 2008 next week we have some good live demonstrations and a hands-on lab area dedicate to give you full exposure to the new features. There are 8 labs where you get to play with all the cool new features. Including the latest integration between ALBPM and ALSB.

As I mentioned in the previous blog for those of you looking for more frequently updates (when a blog is not enough), you may consider following my updates at Twitter. There you can get daily updates on product related features, sneak preview data, you may also get some unrelated noise from time to time. Below is my feed just in case:

This is it for now, will continue to post updates about ALBPM 6.1 here so be sure to come back!

AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.1 & Outlook 2007

Just last week someone asked me for a screen shot demonstrating how BPM information from ALBPM WorkSpace 6.1 can be exposed via RSS inside Microsoft Outlook 2007.

I thought I had already posted this before... However, when I went back to my blogs I noticed that I had talked about the support, but I did not provide an example. Well, no need to wait any longer, check it out below:

ALBPM61_RSS_Outlook07

On the left-panel you can see the Outlook RSS Feeds folder - part of the main navigation tree structure. From there, we have added the BPM RSS feed as a new feed to the list - just a few clicks. Next, as process instances becomes available from the WorkSpace, they will show up in the feed stream. Users can select from the list panel on the right side and see the instance detail in the view panel below.

This is a simple way to integrate ALBPM 6.1 not only with Outlook 2007, but also with MS SharePoint, Atlassian Confluence, and other portal touch point that can consume RSS. In addition, in ALBPM 6.1 we will also provide a plug-in to Office 2007 - see previous post for more info.

Before I forget we are just a week away from Participate 2008, hope to see you there!

Talk to you soon,

AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.1 & AquaLogic User Interaction 6.5

A couple of days ago I posted a pre-release snapshot of AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.1 working with WebLogic Portal 10.2. In the past 48 hours a got a hand full of emails asking me about the AquaLogic User Interaction (ALUI) integration - also known as AquaLogic BPM Suite Collaboration Edition.

Well, ALBPM CE is also coming along pretty well! I thought I would go ahead and share with you another pre-release snapshot of ALBPM 6.1 running inside the ALUI Portal 6.5. This is work in progress and the final release may look a little different, however you can already see the Process Community and the latest WorkSpace components working well together in the Portal:

albpm61 alui65

One of the main changes in this release is the adoption of the ALUI Directory Services instead of the Hydrogen Sync services. This way we can ensure a more robust and high-performance identity management solution between the two products. ALBPM CE leverages all the collaboration capabilities in ALUI, together with its new look and feel, and the new ALBPM WorkSpace 6.1 (which has been updated and improved).

If you would like to take a sneak preview look at AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.1 you may consider attending  BEA (now Oracle) Participate 2008 in Chicago, May 12-15th. It is coming soon, so you better get your pass right now. Besides all the great sessions, we will host a series of hands-on labs where you will be able to play with ALBPM 6.1 and talk directly to our team. We are looking forward to the opportunity to get your feedback and exchange information.

For those of you looking for more frequently updates (when a blog is not enough), you may consider following my updates at Twitter. There you can get daily updates on product related features, sneak preview data, and more information about our next release. Below is my feed just in case:

This is it for now, more on AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.1 coming soon!

AquaLogic BPM 6.1 & WebLogic Portal 10.2

I got a lot of people asking me about AquaLogic BPM Suite (ALBPM) support for WebLogic Portal (WLP), especially after the recent WLP 10.2 release.

So the short answer is "yes", there is and will be support. The long answer is that we are changing the approach of the integration in 6.1 and making it simpler to get it done. We are planning to remove several of the manual steps and have a smooth process in place. In a nutshell, we are planning to provide a Library Module where WLP developers can quickly surface the ALBPM WorkSpace into the portal. The team in Buenos Aires (ALBPM) is working hard to make this possible with support from the team in Boulder (WLP). There is still some work involved, but it is much simpler. The configuration matrix is as follows:

  • ALBPM 6.0 works with WLP 10.0
  • ALBPM 6.1 works with WLP 10.2

Below is a quick snapshot of ALBPM 6.1 already running inside WLP 10.2. This was taken today from a running WLP instance in the labs. We received a lot of customer feedback during ALBPM 6.0 timeframe and we really hope this will make several folks happy out there.

WLP10_ALBPM61

For more details about the current integration you may want to review a blog entry from my colleague Peter Laird. More info on Library Module, there is a good blog entry from Rob Woollen. If you would like to take an early look on all the latest ALBPM software and meet some of team members in person, you may consider attending Participate 2008 - there will be several sessions and demos on 6.1.   :-)

More about ALBPM 6.1 coming soon!

AquaLogic BPM 6.1 - BPMN

In AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.1 we are improving our support for BPMN. Below is a pre-release snapshot showing a process represented with the updated BPMN constructs. You should notice the improved editor showing the BPMN functional groups, on the right side, such as: Activities, Gateways, Events, Flow, Globals, and Artifacts. The Business Analyst profile has been revisited as well to maximize modeling space and easy-of-use.

BPMN_Studio61

To improve BPMN support we added a new Timer activity and updated some icons to better match the spec. Below are some of the new and updated icons - the final icons will be included in the 6.1 package, this is still work in progress:

new_icons_61

The meaning of the icons above, from left to right, top to bottom, with their respective BPMN (ALBPM) equivalents are: XOR (Conditional), Loop, Message Event (Notification Wait One Argument), Multiple Event (Notification Wait Multiple Argument), OR (Split Or), Send Message Event (Process Notification), AND (Split), Multiple Instance (Split N), and Timer Event (Timer Activity).

For a complete list of BPMN references and general information of the spec please visit:

AquaLogic BPM Suite: Sneak Preview - Gaturro Release...

We are getting very close to our second major engineering milestone, M2, and some of the cool new features are starting to become visible and usable. It is time to review each feature, make sure things are working well as planned, and polish any rough edges before the product goes out of the door.

If this is the first time you are reading about AquaLogic BPM Suite (ALBPM), we are currently shipping version 6.0, and the info you will see here is related to next release, code name GATURRO. We are also planning to have an Early Access Program (EAP) for folks interested in reviewing the product, so if you would like to participate send me a note: "alext [at] bea [dot] com". I think you will find ALBPM to be a very cool product that really solves business problems and help companies work better in their space. You may want to consider attending our Participate 2008 conference and hear directly from our customers what they think of the product. You will also be able to see live demos and talk to the whole product team. In the mean time you can learn about our next release here. :-)

For GATURRO you will find several new features and enhancements such as: usability improvements for business users, many new SOA related features like an updated integration with AquaLogic Service Bus 3.0, several new features in Studio like better support for BPMN standards, improved performance capabilities by grouping activities into a single transaction, a new Microsoft Office integration, and much more, etc.

Well, let's see some new things! If you take part on the EAP you should see the screen below when you run the installer for Studio. For this release we upgraded the Eclipse framework to version 3.3.2, which have several new capabilities. We also added out of the box plug-ins for CVS and Subversion. So you don't have to worry about downloading and installing them.

1_Installation

Running the installer you get up and running in less than 5 minutes. When you start Studio a good way to get moving fast is by importing one of the sample projects we include in the product. They are located at "<you machine>\bea\albpm6.1_eap\studio\samples". From there you can pick the HROnBoarding sample, there are others. Once the project is imported you can open one of the processes to start seeing new features. At the process window you will notice a more friendly interface including a right panel with different modeling constructs.

2_SimplifiedModeling

Another important modeling update in this release is our improved support for Business Process Modeling Notation or simply BPMN. If you are new to BPMN, you should spend some time reading about it. This is a very good standard that will help the BPM industry have a single unified format to represent a process visually - customer will really benefit as well from a much needed unified approach to represent their processes. A more proper definition of BPMN comes from Wikipedia: "The Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) is a standardized graphical notation for drawing business processes in a workflow".

7b_BetterBPMN

One pretty useful feature is the ability to share assets across different projects. Right now we are calling Project Sharing, it works like your typical inheritance concept. The idea is that you could have a master project, with best practices and all he main components in the catalog, next when you create a new project you can leverage components from the master project. You work with references in development, once in production you actually get it own copies of instances so you project does not collide with other projects.

3_ProjectSharing

In terms of improving performance for the ALBPM Engine, we added a real cool feature that you can enable in Studio called "Greedy Execution". The main idea, summarizing, is that you could group a certain number of automatic activities to execute under one single transaction. This new feature provides improved performance for processes that do not necessarily require transactions at every step, allowing for the engine to execute at a much faster rate. This is not a good option for all processes out there, but for the ones where speed comes first it is a great feature. So for example, under very high performance requirements such as what you would find in a Telco environment you could use ALBPM to provide orchestration services close to the wire layers. You could also start to combine ALBPM with some cases of event processing like the WebLogic Event Server.

8_GreddyExec

Using Greedy Execution in conjunction with our newly updated integration with  AquaLogic Service Bus 3.0, offers a great combination of service orchestration, flexibility, and speed. Folks looking for good SOA orchestration capabilities and speed  should look into this area.

Another area of improvement was in the WorkSpace. We updated the whole look and feel and made the different capabilities more intuitive. Less icons, more text, and links. Groups actions are now simple to do. The design is clean and very pleasant to use. The design team really spent a lot of time creating a more friendly experience for business users, and process participants. I think you will be very happy with the new and improve WorkSpace. In parallel, we are also updating the integration with the ALUI portal, we will support ALUI 6.5, and the integration with WLP, supporting WLP 10.2. RSS continues to be supported as well from the WorkSpace inbox.

4_NewWorkSpace

For business users and business analysts that use Microsoft Office we have a new feature for you. We created a BPM Ribbon that can be made available inside Office 2007. This ribbon, an office component, allows you to start a process instance and interact with processes directly from Office applications such as Microsoft Word. As I mentioned earlier we continue to provide RSS feeds from the WorkSpace, which can be brought into Outlook to keep you updated on new inbox activities and processes.

9_OfficeRibbon

This is it for now. I hope to post more sneak preview update of our next release in future blogs. Hope this was helpful and interesting for you.

Cheers,

Business Process & Virtualization

Hi,

In the past few months our engineering team has been working on installing and running the AquaLogic BPM Suite inside WebLogic Server 9.2 Virtual Edition 1.1, or simply WLS VE. The main goal of the exercise was to prove that our BPM engine could function properly in this new environment and address any required changes. Below you can see our VMWare ESX server configuration in the labs:

 ALBPM_VE2

Virtualization is a hot topic and you may want to get all the details from the WLS VE page which includes several materials and white papers . There is a lot of good information available such as a customer case study, folks are running this stuff.

From ALBPM one of the main advantages on running inside WLS VE is around provisioning new systems. You can have a brand new ALBPM instance up and running in seconds, really. This is very good for large deployments and several provisioning use cases. A more real application of this technology is addressing "high pick loads" where new systems are needed for a certain period of time, but not the whole time. For example the week of April 15th is a pick time for the IRS. February 14th, Valentine's Day is a pick time for web based flower shops, you get the idea. In this case companies may need extra instances of ALBPM for those pick times. Next you can see our WLS VE instance running on VMWare ESX:

 ALBPM_VE1

One thing to notice is what happens with the typical operating system. For example, in our case ALBPM was installed inside WLS VE, which in turn runs on the Liquid JVM, straight on top of VMWare ESX. This is very interesting and one of the things that got my attention on the topic. Below is an image I borrowed from the WLS VE product page to illustrate the point of the OS going away. :-)

 ALBPM_VE4

So far we have been able to run the engine fine. We did have to update our license to include a tag for WLS VE, but for the most part of the effort everything has gone very well. Perhaps the part we invested the most time was to learn about WLS VE. We had to become familiar with the installation procedures as well as the deployment model on top of the new VE environment. Next image shows ALBPM running, deployed & active, on WLS VE.

 ALBPM_VE3

Deployment is an area we will potentially improve over time so that customers can quickly provision images of AquaLogic BPM in their environment without too many clicks or via scripting. Right now it is a sequence of steps, which is fine, but not a "one-click" as I would like it to be. :)

You can get WLS VE now available from BEA. The current version of AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.0 is not certified on WLS VE yet, but you can still download and play with it. From the customer perspective this should work just like in any other deployment. We hope to bring official support to our matrix in the coming releases.

On a related note my friend Jesper, part of the BPM team, was able to create a ALBPM instance on the Amazon's EC2 environment. Check out the details in his blog.

Cheers,

BEA Participate 2008 - Social Computing, BPM, User Interaction, and more...

Hi,

If you need a reason to be in the US in May, or you are already here, read on... We are going to host our BEA Participate 2008 event in Chicago this year - I must say it is one of my favorite cities in the planet.

If you had a chance to come last year, you know this will be a great event. You will have the opportunity to connect with several people from BEA and more importantly several other customers and partners. You also get to see the latest in terms of product releases, roadmaps, and technology deep-dives.

This year we will have a nice twist added to it: "This year, BEA.Participate.08 will feature a unique experiment in social computing. Registered conference attendees will be provided an iPod Touch to interact on-the-fly with the conference agenda, session speakers and content, and each other." - find more information on the official site. This should be fun, maybe I will get an iPod Touch after all. ;-)

AquaLogic BPM Suite customers should plan to come talk to the product team, participate in the user's group meeting, and see great demos.

Cheers,

AquaLogic BPM Suite - Looking ahead...

Hi,

If you had a chance to come to our user conference, BEA World, you probably got a good idea of what is coming in the next release of AquaLogic BPM Suite - code name GATURRO. For those of you that did not have a chance to attend I hope to start sharing some of the new features here in this blog. I plan to post some updates from time to time until the product is released. So let's get started with some new things:

ESB: As you know AquaLogic BPM Suite (ALBPM) has one of the best, most seamless integrations with our AquaLogic Service Bus product (ALSB). We have been very pleased with how customers are using the two products together. Service Orchestration is a now a breeze - just click and go... For GATURRO we are planning to update the integration to work with the latest version of the bus, AquaLogic Service Bus 3.0. We will be using the latest transport technologies, as well as provide the same smooth integration to/from AquaLogic BPM Studio, ALBPM Enterprise Server, and the Service Bus server. I should be posting some screen shots as we finalize our next development mile stone. Folks that are big on SOA will really like what is coming in this area. :-)

Repository: Governance is big. We are working closely with the AquaLogic Enterprise Repository team to improve our product integration. How far we will be able to take it is still too early to tell, but we would like to make it as smooth as what we have done with the ALSB product. The main idea is to be able to participate in different Governance and Re-Use of Components type of use-cases. Having a good ESB and Repository integration are key elements of our SOA strategy. Since we have strong synergies already in place with ALSB, ALER is the next natural step.

Web Tier & Collaboration: For the folks using Portals you should be pretty happy. We are planning to update our integration with the AquaLogic Interaction Portal to work with the latest upcoming new version. For the customers using WebLogic Portal 10.x, we are planning to improve usability in the current integration, making it simpler. We are also planning to expand our Process Collaboration with support for some nice use-cases with AquaLogic Pages. The web tier is getting a lot of attention in this release. I should probably do a few postings on each of those items.

Studio: Since AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.0, our Studio environment is built on top of the Eclipse Framework. For GATURRO we are exploring moving to the 3.3 version of Eclipse. We will be leveraging the latest improvements, as well as adding some of our own improvements. Usability is a big theme in this area. The WorkSpace is also getting some enhancements in both usability and infrastructure support. More to come here in future posts...

Infrastructure: I will need a long post on this one... Lots of improvements to talk about here. This should also cover improvements on different BPM related standards.

I hope to post more details and screen shots as we keep making progress. Finally, an Early Access Process (EAP) will be available soon for customers that are interested in providing feedback and taking an early look on the product. If you want to participate, please contact your BEA Account Rep and let them know, you can also ping me about it at: "alext [at] bea [dot] com".

Cheers,

BEA World China 2007 - Quick look at the event.

It has been a few weeks since BEA World China in Shanghai, but I just got around to download the pictures to my laptop... Sorry for the delay.

Below is the main auditorium we had available for the Keynote. This was the day before during the light and sound checks. The event brought in over 7000 people from all types of industries. Sarah has a nice description in her blog of the general feeling of the event.

Next is the outside view of the Conference Center in the new Financial District in Shanghai. You could see from a distance that a BEA event was going to take place. I hope to learn a little more Chinese next time, over a billion good reasons to do so. :)

Here is a shot with some members of our local team in China. After getting all the machines ready to go with the latest demos and the latest version of AquaLogic BPM Suite 6.0.2, we just had to take a quick group picture. During the event we got so many people coming by with questions, we needed an army to keep up with the demand.

From left to right Alex (me ALBPM PM), Robin (WLS Director), Mariano (ALBPM Architect), and Emilio (ALBPM CTO). We have customers running ALBPM on a variety of environments. Standalone without an Application Server. Running on WebSphere, in large deployments by the way. And of course on WebLogic Server, in large deployments as well.

Next you can see the AquaLogic BPM booth completely booked solid... It was like this for the whole event... There was a good mix of customers, developers, and IT folks coming around. Business Process Optimization and Outsourcing were big themes during the discussions. A lot of interest on our latest release and its new features.

There were people everywhere down to the very last minute. I think BEA should consider coming here twice a year... We also had several partners participating. Some of the largest US firms as well as large Chinese companies.

Finally another view from the outside, this was the area around the conference. It feels like a vision from the future. Amazing brand new buildings, huge TV tower, in a city with over 18 million people.

That is it folks. Happy 2008!

Cheers,
